Most popular Jewel
The competition for the best ‘Jewel’ on the Crowning Glory sculpture is now over and the winner is Alesia Miller. Alesia works as a nurse for the NHS. The photo shows Alesia receiving her bouquet of flowers – her prize on having been chosen as the winner of the most popular ‘Jewel’ on the Jewel in the Crown Sculpture of Recycled Materials by a public vote. Nurse Alesia designed the blue and white NHS Jewel, clearly seen in the top right corner of the picture, in a hurry because she never stopped working during the dark days of lock-down. This couldn’t have been a more fairy-tale ending to the Crowning Glory if we had written it ourselves. You may see the very photogenic Alesia again next year – I hear she is the Bury St Edmunds Carnival Queen!
The other photo shows (clockwise, left to right) David Irvine (Bury in Bloom Coordinator), Michelle Freeman (Crafty Foxes created the sculpture with the public), Chloe Ludkin Treatt (Treatts sponsored the Crowning Glory sculpture) presenting the bouquet and Alesia.
